Wedding Planner
Use this checklist to make sure you don't miss out any of the important details in planning your wedding
On Your Engagement
- Announce your engagement and start organising your big day
- Buy an engagement ring (if it's not already on your finger!)
- Decide on the date and time
- Decide on the style and any theme - will it be black tie, etc
- Keep a scrap book of ideas of dresses, etc
- Take care of your health, if you aren't already
When you have set the date
- Make a booking at Lazy River Estate for your ceremony and reception
- Book the church if having a church wedding
- Book a celebrant if you are having your wedding at Hippo Beach or somewhere else before your Lazy River reception
- Discuss your budget and how expenses will be shared
- Start looking at suitable wedding gowns and bridesmaids dresses
- Consider photographers and look at their portfolios and packages on offer
- Look at stationery designs
- Think about the style of entertainment you want
- Source quotes for wedding transport
- Choose your bridal party
- Draft a rough guest list
- Start thinking about honeymoon destinations
6 - 12 Months Before
- Agree on the guest list
- Advise any overseas guests of the date
- Choose and book Photographer &/or Videographer
- Have your stationery printed
- Have the dressmaker start on your gown or start trying on dresses
- Call the clergyman or celebrant to confirm date and schedule an appointment to discuss the ceremony
- Discuss catering arrangements with Pamela at Lazy River
- Make appointments for the groom and his attendants to try on suits
- Begin planning your Honeymoon destination & booking
- Select and book bridal party transportation
- Engage a florist and discuss floral choices, design and colour
- Select music/musician/DJ for the ceremony and reception
- Organise the Master of ceremonies for your Reception
- Check your passport is up to date or apply for one if you are travelling overseas for your honeymoon
3 - 6 Months Before
- Select wedding rings
- Plan the order of Ceremony and Reception
- Register with a Bridal Gift service and select gift choices
- Organise bridal gown fittings
- Order attendants' gowns and schedule fittings
- Select a Wedding Cake specialist and order
- Book any Accommodation or Transport needed for out of town guests
- Select Beauty and discuss your wishes (Hair, Make-Up, Nails, etc)
- Delegate Bridal Party to organise Bridal shower/hens night & Bucks party
- Book a bridal suite for the wedding night (the Lazy River Estate villas are the logical choice from 2011)
2 Months Before
- Post or deliver all invitations
- Give notice of intention to marry - registration
- Discuss and plan you photos with your Photographer/Videographer
- Try on and order lingerie
- Begin any personal shopping for pre-wedding parties or honeymoon
- Complete any documentation with the celebrant or church
4 Weeks Before
- Check and confirm all bookings and arrangements
- Plan seating arrangements for ceremony and reception
- Ask speakers to prepare speeches
- Schedule wedding rehearsals and notify those involved
- Trial your hairstyle and make-up
- Organise travellers cheques or foreign currency, if needed
2 Weeks Before
- Notify papers for wedding notices
- Check and confirm honeymoon bookings
- Pick up wedding Rings and arrange any engraving
- Arrange for final fitting and delivery of Wedding Attire
- Keep your RSVP list up to date and confirm numbers with the venue
- Have wedding rehearsal/confirm venue booking
- Reconfirm photographer, makeup, florist, drivers, etc
- Hold you hens and bucks nights (you don't want a hangover on your wedding day!)
- Consider having your teeth polished
- Write on place cards for reception
- Wear in your wedding shoes so they don't cause you agony on the day
7 Days Before
- Have the wedding rehearsal
- Pack for Honeymoon
- Try on your wedding outfits
- Relax where possible
- Organise someone to return hire clothes and equipment
- Confirm wedding transport
- Make sure the boys have the esky (with plenty of water) under control for the bridal party photos
- Arrange somebody to put ribbons on the cars
The Day Before
- Lay out everything you will need tomorrow
- Confirm when Flowers and Cake are arriving
- Confirm hair and make-up
- Have nails manicured
- Organise someone to be in charge of the rings
- Prepare going-away outfit
- Eat well and get a good night's sleep
Wedding Day
- Eat breakfast and lunch if you can
- Get hair and makeup done
- Smile for the cameras
- Enjoy the most fantastic day of your life, knowing the Lazy River crew will look after you!
After Honeymoon
- Make an appointment to see photographer and videographer
- Send thank you cards to guests
- Arrange for any name change
- Share your wedding story with friends
- Enjoy married life!
